We continue #TheQLNightstand this week with Teddy Minford, an Editor at Fodor’s Travel and one of the best bibliophiles I know. Teddy never ceases to amaze me with how many books she can read, and I’m always inspired by what’s on this voracious reader’s nightstand. In fact, she manages to read so many books she has started a newsletter to review books for her family and friends (which I make sure to never miss!), making this QL Nightstand a must-study!
QL: What are you reading now / what’s on your list?
Right now I’m reading Orphans of the Carnival by Carol Birch. My list of books to read keeps on growing, but my bedside pile includes The Tsar of Love and Techno by Anthony Marra, All My Puny Sorrows by Miriam Toews, Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, and Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders.
QL: Bedtime / nighttime ritual?
Take a bath, slather myself in coconut oil, braid my hair so I don’t wake up with a rat’s nest, and get into bed with a giant glass of water and a good book.
QL: Literary hero?
QL: Complete the sentence — the best thing about books is ______
Making friends without leaving the house.
